The liver is a very important organ and it is the largest internal and most metabolically complex organ in humans. As cirrhosis results, the liver leaks fluid (Ascites) into the belly, which becomes distended and heavy.

If a gallstone becomes stuck in the bile duct draining the liver, hepatitis and bile duct infection (Cholangitis) can result.

Hemochromatosis

This is a situation where hemochromatosis allows iron to deposit in the liver, damaging it. The iron also deposits throughout the body, causing other multiple health problems

Also, bear in mind that excessive intake of alcohol is also known to be one of the major contributors of developing liver problems.
